Searching Tips:
To save yourself time and hassle if you are searching for a
specific name, (for example; William Hebden) check the index
of the particular sheet of interest. Make a note of the
Reference Number which looks like this: (E2/27). Then open
the actual chart by clicking the link above. The tree will be
displayed in a new Adobe Viewer window. In the "FIND" toolbar at
the top right of the window, type the Reference Number you found
in the index, and click on drop down menu arrow at the
right-hand end of the FIND box. from the menu, click on "Find
next in current pdf" the text will be highlighted. Use the ZOOM
tools (+ or - or the marquee zoom) to enlarge the text to a
readable size. FIND will only search the document on your
screen.
Some Notes on the
Charts: Each person (name) shown on the chart has their own unique reference
number, linking the chart to the corresponding index. The
alpha-numeric code below each individual’s name (e.g. K15/1)
begins with the generation letter (starting with “A” at the
bottom of each sheet). This is followed by an arbitrary number
usually starting from “1” in each generation - in this case
“15”. The number to the right of the separator is the
sheet number, which is shown in the heading of each tree
diagram. Names included on charts as a result of later research
take the next available number in the same generation, so may be
out of sequence. Using the search technique above is
recommended.
Any generation with
living people has been removed from the internet versions of the
charts, so many will not start with "A" as the most recent
generation. Please contact us if you think family members are in
the blanked areas of the chart, we might be able to help.
Sections of the
charts can be copied and printed on an A4 printer using a
"screen grab" programme such as the "Snipping Tool" in Windows
Vista®.
Full copies of the charts can be
purchased at cost + postage. Contact us for details.
